Western Chakra History - Shirley McLaine on Johnny Carson 1990

I’ve been doing a deep dive into Chakra history these days, namely how they came to the west. I found this clip of the incredible Shirley McLaine explaining her understanding on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in 1990.

She was one of the people who was instrumental in bringing Chakras into our zeitgeist in the west, and was labeled all sorts of crazy for that and some of her other fringe interests.

The most of this interview is a bit cringe on the part of Johnny, if you ask me, although I respect him, he seemed to be more in the seat of condescending and discounting her than listening.

When I began Acting with the Chakras, it was 2010 and even though it wasn’t that long ago, it was still a tough sell to people who weren’t open to the idea of energy. It makes me so excited to know Chakras are becoming more accepted in the mainstream. Even though what we know of Chakras have evolved from its origins thousands of years ago... More on that to come!
