Using your phone Mindfully for increased presence

For a long time I’ve been at odds with using my phone. It’s all too easy to get sucked in and lose precious time by consuming social media. Scrolling through can feel really depleting, and when we’re disconnected from our bodies while doing it, the depletion feels exponential when we finally come back to our senses.

It’s made me search over the years for ways to use my phone mindfully. I always hear Eckhart Tolle in my mind talking about when we watch television, we go below thought. We lose our bodies. And our goal rather, should to be to go above thought. He said that before smart phones, and so I now put it to that.

I jotted down a few things that I do, to remain in my body while using devices, I hope it’s helpful. Particularly if you’re on set and waiting, it’s imperative to keep to your senses and not get to mind scrambled before going on camera. My talk with Sara Canning brought up a lot of this. In the practice of keeping time on set sacred and not engaging with your phone. You can watch that insta live playback here.

Below are the slides, let me know if any of these ideas work for you as much as they do for me!
