How Life Experience Contributes to Acting

Confidence in acting comes from Life Experience. A photo of a balcony overlooking beautiful buildings, the ocean and a palm tree.

Been talking a lot with people lately about how life experience & travel contribute to acting..

Got me thinking that where I’m at now vs when I first started to act has been a deepening process - not only from study, but from living a life full of challenges, surprising twists, opportunity to see parts of the world & overcoming adversity.

As a person, I’m more in touch with my emotions, more confident in the process of making choices, less fearful of what others might think - all factors of being given more time on this earth, & all qualities that directly benefit my acting practice.

Travel has a way of taking you outside your comfort zone, which is often where we need to go to in acting - whether it’s in a place where you don’t speak the same language or heading to a part of your own town you’ve never been. Putting your body in new places calls you to show up in ways you haven’t before.

What are your thoughts on this? How has your acting evolved with life experience?👇
