From Characters to Chakras: A Mindful Actor Reflection for the New Year

 

Happy New Year beauties!! ✨

I really love taking time around the New Year to reflect on the year past and set some intentions for the new year ahead. I gathered some of the questions I ask myself around this time that have to do with my energy, mindfulness, and acting. Look through, find some that you’re called to and free write!!

  • Reflect on Achievements:

    • What are the proudest moments of your year, both personally and professionally?

    • How have your acting skills evolved, and what breakthroughs have you experienced?

  • Chakra Check-In:

    • Explore each Chakra theme individually. How have you nurtured or neglected each energy center throughout the year? (If you need help with this, check out the free Mini Course!)

    • Are there specific chakras that need more attention and balance in the coming year?

  • Mindful Beginnings:

    • How has mindfulness played a role in your daily life and acting practice?

    • What mindful habits have you developed, and how have they impacted your well-being?

  • Character Exploration:

    • Reflect on a character you portrayed this year. How did you embody and connect with their energy on a deeper level?

    • What lessons from the character's journey can you apply to your own life?

  • Gratitude Journal:

    • List three things you're grateful for in your acting career, personal life, and life journey.

    • How has gratitude influenced your overall mindset and approach to challenges?

  • Fear and Courage:

    • Explore a moment of fear or self-doubt. How did you overcome it, and what did you learn about yourself in the process?

    • How can you carry that courage into the new year?

  • Balancing Act:

    • In what areas of your life or in your Chakra system do you feel a need for more balance?

    • How can you integrate Chakra healing practices to create more harmony and equilibrium?

  • Acting and Self-Discovery:

    • How has acting served as a tool for self-discovery this year?

    • What aspects of yourself did you uncover through the characters you portrayed?

  • Energy Blockages:

    • Reflect on any moments of energetic blockages or resistance. What were the underlying causes, and how can you address them in the coming year?

  • Intentions vs. Actions:

    • Compare the intentions you set at the beginning of the year with your actions. What aligned well, and where were the gaps?

    • How can you bridge the intention-action gap in the upcoming year?

  • Mindful Moments:

    • Recall a moment of pure presence and mindfulness. How can you incorporate more of these moments into your daily routine?

    • How can you bring mindfulness into your warm up and expression both on and off the stage/ camera, enhancing your acting skills and presences?

  • Legacy Building:

    • What kind of legacy do you want to create in your acting career and personal life?

    • How can you align your actions with this vision in the new year?

  • Self-Care Rituals:

    • List three self-care rituals that have been particularly beneficial. How will you prioritize self-care moving forward?

  • Creative Exploration:

    • Reflect on a creative project or idea you explored. How did it contribute to your personal and artistic growth?

    • What new creative avenues do you want to explore in the coming year?

  • Mind-Body Connection:

    • How has the mind-body connection played a role in your acting process?

    • What physical or mental practices will you prioritize to enhance this connection?

Inspirational Figures:

  • Identify an actor or artist who inspires you. What qualities do they possess that you aim to cultivate in your own journey?

  • How can you incorporate these qualities into your life?

  • Learning and Growth:

    • What skills or knowledge did you acquire this year that contributed to your growth as an actor?

    • How will you continue your learning journey in the new year?

  • Acting and Empathy:

    • Reflect on a moment when you deeply connected with a character's emotions, either from a movie/stage or something you did yourself. How did this enhance your ability to empathize with others in real life?

    • How can you carry this empathy into your interactions off the stage or screen?

  • Core Desired Feelings:

    • Choose 3-5 words that resonate with you as to the way you would like to feel this year.

    • Keep them in mind as you make decisions through the year, “does this align with my core desire feelings"?” This is based on Danielle LaPorte’s amazing work!

  • Vision Board for the Future:

    • Create a vision board for your acting career, incorporating images, words, and symbols that represent your aspirations.

    • What steps can you take in the next year to move closer to this vision?

  • Closing the Year with Compassion:

    • Write a letter to yourself, acknowledging your growth, expressing gratitude for the challenges, and offering words of self-compassion as you enter the new year!
